Youth Introduction to Archery
We are excited to continue offering Youth Archery this year. This program is a great introduction to the sport of archery. Our goal is to create a safe, fun and learning environment for archers ages 10-17 years old. Instructors from the Maine School of Archery will teach range safety and proper shooting mechanics. Archers will also learn about mental focus, self confidence and physical fitness. These classes are offered in partnership with Portland Recreation and will be held at the Reiche Community Center in Portland.

Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD)
Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) is a USA Archery program that helps archers to enjoy the sports recreationally or progress to the excitement of competition. The program consists of a series of classes taught by a Maine School of Archery instructor.JOAD offers archers the opportunity to learn range safety and proper shooting technique in an environment that fosters focus and increased self-confidence. JOAD is open to all youth ages 10-17 years old and is designed to grow with each individual archer. As the young archer develops, they will learn more advanced techniques and earn achievement awards. These classes are offered in partnership with Portland Recreation and will be held at the Reiche Community Center in Portland.

Adult Archery Program (AAP)
The Adult Archery Program is a USA Archery program that allows adults to learn proper shooting technique, achieve awards based on score, and pursue competition if they wish. The program consists of a series of classes taught by a Maine School of Archery instructor or coach. The Adult Archery Program is a logical “next step” for adult archers pursuing this lifetime sport. These classes are offered in partnership with Portland Recreation and will be held at the Reiche Community Center in Portland.

Family Fun Archery Program
Join us for this new family style archery program! Family Fun Archery is a great introduction to the sport of archery while making memories with your child, nephew, niece, little brother, sister etc. Maine School of Archery instructors will teach proper shooting mechanics and range safety. Our goal is to create a safe, fun environment for archers of all ages. These classes are offered in partnership with Portland Recreation and will be held at the Reiche Community Center in Portland.

Private Lessons
Private lessons offer a personalized approach for new archers as well as those more experienced archers looking to improve. This one-on-one approach allows you to move at your own pace, work on your shooting form and build a training plan that works for you. Private lessons will be taught by Maine School of Archery instructors or coaches at Lakeside Archery in North Yarmouth, Maine.

Who we are

Maine School of Archery instructors and coaches are passionate about teaching archery. Through positive reinforcement, we motivate students to raise their standard of performance while focusing on the process rather than the result. Participants of all ages will find the skills practiced during class will build confidence, boost self-esteem and stay with them long after they leave the archery range.

Where we are

At the Maine School of Archery, our team of dedicated instructors and coaches brings the sport of archery directly to you, teaching at numerous locations across the state of Maine. Our unique approach of not being confined to a single physical space means we can offer our programs in a variety of settings, making archery accessible to more people. This flexibility enables us to work with hundreds of archers annually, bringing a high level of experience to every program we run.

This winter we are teaching group lessons at Portland Recreation’s Reiche Center on Brackett Street in Portland and private lessons at Lakeside Archery in North Yarmouth. Contact us if interested.

Group Lessons
Group lessons are perfect for those organizations looking to have on-going archery lessons as part of their curriculum. We can provide instructors using your existing range and equipment or we can offer group lessons using our equipment at your location. Group lessons will be taught by professional MSA instructors or coaches, all certified by USA Archery.

Level 1 Instructor Certification
The USA Archery Level 1 Instructor Certification Course provides graduates with the necessary tools to maintain a high level of safety both on and off the archery range for camps and beginner archery programs. The Level 1 instructor will learn about range safety and setup, the steps of shooting a bow, equipment and repair, programs and lesson plans, and will be well prepared to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities.

Level 2 Instructor Certification
The USA Archery Level 2 Instructor Certification Course provides graduates with the necessary tools to serve as a lead instructor for on-going archery programs such as local club and school programs, adult archery programs, and Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD). It also provides graduates with an introduction to the National Training System (NTS) Steps of Shooting for both recurve and compound bows, equipment and accessory setup, athlete development, and archery events.

Custom Programs
Our custom programs offer a fun and interactive team-building activity, perfect for your corporate team, family gathering or school group. Maine School of Archery will introduce your group members of all ages and abilities to recurve bare-bow archery. Archers will learn proper form and shoot arrows together from the shooting line. Our light-weight training bows are ideal for both the young and young at heart members in your group. Let us craft a unique archery experience that aligns with your group’s size and objectives.
